"You can do it better" is a short collaborative video work exploring instances of Microaggressions.
At the exhibition's online opening event the Son of a Tutu will performe a sptaial mixture of live and pre-recorded performances, exploring Son of a Tutu’s views on the challenges of the COVID19 pandemic, race, sexuality, the Black Live Matters Awakening and Love.
Son of a Tutu is an award winning drag artist, prominent activist, writer and actor. In 2011 they won the cabaret competition ‘Drag Idol UK’. Since then they have performed across the UK and Europe, including regularly at ‘The Admiral Duncan’, ‘Halfway to Heaven’, ‘The Royal Vauxhall Tavern’, ‘Heaven Nightclub’, The Maritime Museum Greenwich, ‘The Phoenix Arts Club’ amongst others. As an artist, Miss Tutu has unique broad appeal and can switch in a heartbeat from, curating and presenting a sociopolitical art piece, to judging alongside the worlds biggest drag stars a Heaven. They have also created and starred in their own ‘Edinburgh Fringe Show’ (Freckled), hosted countless cabaret events, talent shows, and Pride events. During lockdown, they have hosted online events for Amnesty International, ParaPride as well as Bingo on Victoria Beckhams’ Instagram account.
Miss Tutu recently appeared on BBC stories which has been viewed half a million times to date and, was the face of Primark’s national Pride campaign (2019). They also conceived and directed the #YouCanDoBetter (microaggressions) viral video in the wake of the Black Lives Matter uprisings of 2020 and, were featured as one of the 50 Queens in Dan Jones’s book ‘50 Drag Queens Who Changed The World’. They are also due to appear in the upcoming motion picture “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie”
