Closing event for We are Family (29th April)

With support of The Ledward Centre Brighton, SEAS is collaborating with art curator, writer and art consultant Pacheanne Anderson, to exhibit digital artists for LGBTQ+ History Month. The exhibition aims to depict imagery of queer relationships and interactions in different parts of the queer world centring family and kinship. These representations can include images from nightlife, domestic life and celebratory but political instances such as Pride. With a focus on kinship, collective care and community support, the works selected aim to show the audience brief snippets of what family looks like in our everyday lives.

The closing event will be held in The Ledward Centre and offers a last chance to see the exhibition as well as a stunning spoken word performance from Moses Kamanga.

Moses Kamanga (he/him) - is a 21 year old poet whose work engages with subjects of trans identity, queer love and family.

Artists Tolu Elusade & Bernice Mulenga will be in conversation with curator Pacheanne Anderson. They will be discussing themes of how it feels to document joy versus protest.

Tolu Elusade (they/them) - is a 20 year old visual poet and storyteller who uses photography as a way to approach themes such as collective healing and joy.

Bernice Mulenga (they/them) - is a London based multidisciplinary artist, who prioritizes the use of analogue processes in their work.
